2019 में, 14 फरवरी को, जम्मू और कश्मीर के पुलवामा (Pulwama) जिले में एक दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण आतंकी हमला हुआ था। इसमें एक स्वयंसेवी आतंकी ने एक सुरक्षा काफिले के खिलाफ गाड़ी में भरा बम विस्फोट किया था। यह हमला अनुसूचित जाति के काफिले को लकड़ीदार रास्ते पर जाते हुए हुआ था, जिसमें कई सुरक्षा जवानों को शहीद कर दिया गया था। इस हमले में शहीद हुए जवानों के परिवारों को और पूरे देश को गहरा शोक हुआ। यह घटना भारत को आतंकवाद के खिलाफ सख्ती से एक होकर खड़ा होने की आवश्यकता को सुधारने के लिए एक नया संकेत था।

पुलवामा (Pulwama) हमले के बाद PM Narendra Modiji ने आतंकियों को ललकारा था। उन्होंने कहा था कि मैं अपने दिल में वही आग महसूस करता हूं, जो आपके अंदर भड़क रही है। उन्होंने कहा था कि सभी आंसुओं का बदला लिया जाएगा। पुलवामा हमले ने पूरे देश को अंदर से हिला कर रख दिया था। जिसके बाद भारत ने जवानों की शहादत का बदला लिया। पुलवामा हमले के 12 दिन के भीतर भारत ने पाकिस्तान में स्थित आतंकियों के ठिकानों पर एयर स्ट्राइक की थी। 25 फरवरी 2019 की रात के बाद, मिराज-2000 विमानों ने ग्वालियर एयरबेस से उड़ान भरी थी। 26 फरवरी 2019 वह दिन था, जब भारतीय वायुसेना के विमानों ने पाकिस्तान के बालाकोट में घुसकर आतंकी कैम्पों को निशाना बनाया था। इस हमले में जैश का कैडर काफी हद तबाह हो गया था और 300 के करीब आतंकी मारे गए थे।
