Martyrs’ Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas or Sarvodaya Day, is an annual observance in India that takes place on January 30th. The day is dedicated to remembering and honoring the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters who fought for India’s independence from British colonial rule. The main event is held at Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi, where a wreath-laying ceremony is held and a moment of silence is observed.
